Energy Audits

Energy Audits provide the basic building block for your energy investment programme. High on the list are the "no and low" cost measures, many of which can provide substantial savings. Some of the higher cost measures may actually provide an excellent return on investment, and turn out to be more profitable than investing in additional production facilities.

With more than 15 years experience in carrying out energy audits, The Energy Initiative believe this is one of the first places to start. Often you will see savings of 20% or more being predicted. Our experience says that this is a bit optimistic, and typically, savings fall in the range 5-15%. However, there are exceptions, and we have come across sites where 40% savings are possible.

Audits will cover your building, plant and process energy. They will build an understanding of where your energy goes, and more importantly, where it can be saved. Typically the report will cover the following areas:

  • Annual utility consumption and costs.
  • Lighting Installations.
  • Heating, Cooling and Ventilation Installations.
  • Domestic Hot Water Installations.
  • Cold Water Installations.
  • Controls Installations.
  • Services. E.g. steam generation, compressed air, chilled water.
  • Industrial and other processes.
  • Refrigeration.
  • Energy policy, staff awareness, and monitoring of energy use.

Where necessary, we use instrumentation to monitor conditions at the time of the survey.
